Carl Junction Police to address complaints about parking on the wrong side of the road

We have received several complaints about vehicles being parked on the wrong side of the road.

The ordinance requires that you park on the side of the road in the same direction that you are traveling. This means the right side of the road on all two way streets.

There are several reasons for this, one being that you don't have to cross oncoming traffic to pull away from the curb; the other is that there are reflectors on the rear of your car, so at night it is more visible. when cars approach for the front of your vehicle there are no reflectors and they can be harder to see at night.

We will start warning residents that violate this ordinance, please take care of this if you are one that practices this wrong method of parking. Also, if you live in the part of town that has sidewalks and no curbs, please do not park on the sidewalk.
