Joplin Police use K9 to convince man wanted on felony warrants to come out of his attic

(From the Joplin Police Department)

Incident Spotlight

Thursday at 5pm a JPD detective was looking for a wanted male near 20th and Bird.

The male was wanted on two Felony Jasper County Warrants and a JPD warrant. The detective saw the male crossing the street and tried to contact him.

Upon seeing the detective, the male ran into his residence and locked the door. The house was surrounded and the male refused to exit. Entry was forced and the male could be heard moving around in the attic, but still wouldn't surrender.

As officers lifted a police K9 into the attic access the male decided to peacefully surrender instead of being apprehended by the K9.
