Bad dog food being sold in Joplin area

(From the Joplin Police Department)

A local company discarded a large amount of dog food that had a microbe issue as part of their effective quality control measures. All would have been well.

But, persons then went onto their property and took the bad dog food and began selling it on Facebook and at a local truck stop parking lot for a reduced price. The company contacted us of the issues. Last night, our dept contacted 5 people selling it at Flying J and seized two truck loads of it for destruction by the company.

We tell you all this so that if you or someone you know bought the dog food at a truck stop or other random place, you should simply throw it away. The company says it could cause dogs to get sick, which is why it never reached the store shelves.

Lastly...I guess we should just mention...if it’s in a dumpster or thrown away, it may look good or OK, but there is probably a reason it’s trash.
