The TEN Tenors from Australia will travel all the way to Joplin for its “Home for the
Holidays” concert on Thursday, December 13, 2018, 7:30 p.m. at Joplin High School Performing Arts
Center (2104 Indiana Ave, Joplin, MO 64804).
This will be the third of five performances that make up
Connect2Culture’s 2018-2019 Curtains Up Series.
The TEN Tenors are undoubtedly one of Australia’s greatest entertainment success stories, with more
than 90 million people worldwide embracing their unmistakable charm, camaraderie, and vocal
power.
Following 20 years of sellout performances across the globe, including more than 2,500 of
their own headline concerts, The TEN Tenors have cemented their place as Australia’s premier
classical-crossover group.
The TEN Tenors’ “Home for the Holidays” concert will include a generous mix of festive favorites and
modern holidays hits. The TEN Tenors will walk you through a musical winter wonderland that truly
captures the essence of the Holidays for the whole family, as well as many of the rock and classical
songs that have made this group world famous.
There's nowhere in the world The TEN Tenors would rather be performing this show than in the USA,
during the holiday season.
The TEN Tenors have toured the USA almost every year since 2004,
sharing so many wonderful experiences along the way.
“No one does the Holiday’s like America does
the holidays, it is a seriously fantastic time to be on tour, we love it!” says Tenor and Touring Musical
Director (TMD) Michael Edwards. “American audiences are among the best in the world for showing
appreciation and also music knowledge. Couple that with the Holiday spirit and you get the perfect
storm for a really great show where the audience is just as important to the performance.”
This year marks the 23rd anniversary of the inception of The TEN Tenors. An amazing achievement
for a group which started with a bunch of university mates wanting to earn extra pocket money while
they were perfecting their craft at opera school. Back then none of them imagined that the group
would still be touring the world 23 years down the track.
Originally inspired by the three tenors, the
group has developed its own style and although it might occasionally throw in a song that the
three tenors would have done, it is no longer the group's staple fare.
These days the tenors in the group need
to be great singers and great dancers capable of singing Arias, Pop songs and big Rock classics
equally well.
Of course, the presentation of today's shows has come a long way since those university
days, but the core values remain the same with laid back Aussie bloke charm and an undeniable
sense of good fun the cornerstone of the group’s continued success.
