Carthage woman killed in collision on 171

A Carthage woman was killed in a two-vehicle collision 12:50 p.m. Friday on MO 171, one mile west of Carthage.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2004 Suzuki Forenza driven by Sara L. Graue, 42, Carthage, pulled from the shoulder into the path of a 2016 Jeep Cherokee driven by Ronald D. Edson, 73, Fredonia, Kansas, and was struck.


Both vehicles came to rest off the roadway.

Edson was treated for minor injuries at Mercy Hospital, Joplin.

The fatality was the second this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
