On Monday, 04 March 2019, at 6:35 PM the Joplin Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at 1919 S. Jackson Ave.
While in route the Joplin Police Department reported heavy smoke coming from the attic eaves.
The first fire crew arrived on scene at 6:41 PM to find smoke coming from the attic. Crews extinguished the fire and overhauled the scene. Fire crews remained on scene until 12:16 AM, Tuesday 05 March.
There were no injuries to firefighting crews or civilians. The Red Cross was contacted for aid to the residents of the house. No one was home at the time of the fire.
The Joplin Fire Department responded with 8 units and 25 personnel and was assisted by the Joplin Police Department and METS Ambulance Service.
The cause of fire was ruled electrical in nature.
