New traffic pattern coming to Route HH in Carthage beginning next week

TRAFFIC ALERT: New Traffic Pattern Coming to Route HH in Carthage Beginning Week of July 8

What: Access to Dr. Russell Smith Way from Jasper County Route HH (Fir Road) traffic will shift to the Route HH-to-southbound-I-49 ramp in Carthage

When: Beginning week of July 8 and remaining in this pattern for most of the rest of the intersection improvement project, sometime in early 2025








Traffic Impacts

Russell Smith Way will be CLOSED at Route HH

Drivers will access Dr. Russell Smith Way via a temporary access road on the Route HH-to-southbound -I-49 ramp

Traffic will remain in this pattern for most of the rest of the intersection improvement project, sometime in early 2025

Drivers should expect slowed traffic, traffic delays

Crews and large equipment near traffic








Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching the work zone

Drivers should consider alternate routes during the project

Check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map for road closings/traffic impacts

Weather and/or construction delays could alter the work schedule.

This work is part of a project to build a roundabout at Route HH (Fir Road) and Dr. Russell Smith Way. Contractor crews are converting the intersection just west of I-49 into a single-lane roundabout.

The project is a 50/50 cost-share with the City of Carthage.
