(From the Webb City R-7 School District)

At approximately 8:50 a.m.. the district received notification from the Webb City Police Department about a situation that was occurring near one of schools in the district.

As a precautionary measure, all schools in the district were required to respond according to established safety procedures already in place.

At 9:15 a.m., local authorities informed us that we could continue with regular daily activities.

The decision to go into a lockdown came after a police report of a burglary involving a weapon in an area near Webb City High School. KZRG reports the following:

Webb City Police Chief Carl Francis tells News Talk KZRG they notified the school and placed them on lockdown, which is standard procedure. There was no danger to any students. Webb City Police are looking for 2 vehicles as part of the burglary investigation. A black, 4-door, Silverado truck with Oklahoma tags, and a white or cream-colored, Cadillac. It is believed the burglars have fled the area. If you have any information, call Webb City Police, (417) 673-1911.
