Farewell reception planned for Joplin Library children's librarian

(From the Joplin Public Library)

Joplin Public Library invites the community to a farewell reception honoring long-time Children's Librarian Jeana Gockley on Saturday, January 30, 2016.

The farewell reception will take place in the Library's Children's Department from 10:30 a.m. until noon. All ages are invited, with it being a perfect opportunity for adults and children alike to share stories and offer their thanks to "Miss Jeana" for her many years of dedication and service. Refreshments will be served.

Gockley started her career at the Library in January 2001 as an assistant in the Children's Department and was promoted to the role of Children's Librarian in August 2004.

During her 15-year tenure Gockley has brought early literacy to the forefront of Library programming; conducted 11 summer reading programs; built countless partnerships within the Joplin community; and most recently, helped the Library join the Family Place Library network, making it only the second such library in Missouri.

Ms. Gockley has accepted the position of Library Director at the McDonald County Library. She will continue in her position at Joplin Public Library until Friday, February 5th.
