Carthage woman injured in collision with deer

A Carthage woman was injured in a one-vehicle accident 2:10 a.m. today on Highway 96 at County Road 245, two miles west of Oronogo.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 1998 Ford Windstart driven by Norma M. Gomez, 39, Carthage, struck a deer, left the roadway, and struck an embankment.

Gomez was treated for serious injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.
