A Joplin man was charged with driving while intoxicated following a one-vehicle accident 4:40 a.m. today on Apricot Drive, 1.5 miles west of Joplin.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2013 Toyota Prius driven by Jon D. Watson, 30, Joplin, traveled off the roadway and collided with a tree.
Watson was treated for serious injuries at Mercy Hospital.
In addition to DWI, Watson was charged with careless and imprudent driving and no seat belt.
