Southern Theatre to present "This is Our Youth"

(From Southern News Service)

Southern Theatre will present “This is Our Youth” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, through Saturday, Feb. 6, in the Bud Walton Theatre on the campus of Missouri Southern State University.

In Kenneth Longeran’s play, Warren is the hero-worshipping friend of Dennis, a small-time drug dealer and son of a famous painter father and social activist mother. Warren impulsively steals $15,000 from his own father, an abusive tycoon.

When Jessica, a mixed-up prep school girl, shows up for a date, Warren takes her off, awkwardly, for a night of New York seduction. A wildly funny, bittersweet and ultimately quite moving story follows.

Directed by Tim Klein, the cast includes Cameron Lopez as Dennis Ziegler, Sean Botts as Warren Straub, and Valerie Stockton as Jessica Goldman.

Admission is free for MSSU students, faculty and staff. It is $5 for adults and $3 for senior citizens and nonMSSU students. This production is for mature audiences only due to explicit language and adult situations.

The Southern Theatre box office will be open Monday, Jan. 25, through Friday, Feb. 5. Hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. For reservations, call 417-625-3190. To purchase tickets online, go to: http://www.mssu.edu/ticket-office
