Joplin man charged with DWI, vehicular assault, leaving the scene

(This is an update of a post from Tuesday night.)

A Joplin man was charged with felony counts of leaving the scene of an accident and vehicular assault and a misdemeanor count of driving while intoxicated following a two-vehicle collision 4:25 p.m. Tuesday on Junge, two miles west of Joplin.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2003 Dodge Ram, driven by Justin Fleming, 20, Joplin, ran a stop sign and struck a 1994 Chevrolet pickup driven by Randy J. Chazell, 54, Baxter Springs, Kansas.

A passenger in the Chazell vehicle, Connie Chazell, 64, Baxter Springs, was treated for moderate injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.

In addition to the charges listed above. Fleming was charged with failure to stop at a stop sign, no seat belt, and window tint.
