JFD responds to structure fire at 217 S. Patterson

The Joplin Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 217 S Patterson Ave at 2:08 AM, Thursday, 14 January, 2016.

Fire crews arrived on the scene at 2:13 AM to find a single story wood framed residential structure with smoke and flames coming from the street side. Crews entered the structure, finding heavy fire and smoke in the living room. The fire was extinguished in the living room as well as on the front porch to where the fire had extended.

The fire was declared under control at 2:26 AM and crews remained on scene until 4:40 AM. The house was occupied by Peggy Wright and Michelle Lewis. 

No injuries were reported to either fire personnel or others in the area. Six Joplin Fire units and 15 Joplin Fire personnel responded, as well as JPD and METS. The American Red Cross was notified to provide services to the occupant.

The cause of the fire was investigated by the Joplin fire marshal, who ruled it as accidental electrical.
