Joplin High School senior Marlee Lake recently earned a Golden Lion Award for exemplary community service.
Marlee serves as a Peer Buddy at JHS. Peer Buddies are paired with students with special needs and work closely with them to help with school work and skills that promote independence such as grocery shopping. Marlee also serves as a cadet teacher for a kindergarten class and plans to pursue a career as a special education teacher after graduation. Congratulations Marlee!
The Golden Lion Award program is sponsored by Beimdiek in partnership with MSSU and KSN/KODE. As part of the award, Marlee was featured on KSN and KODE television stations. She will attend a dinner at MSSU at the end of the school year with other Golden Lion Award winners and could earn a scholarship to MSSU.
