Structure fire put out at 2311 W. 3rd

The Joplin Fire Department responded to a report of smoke coming from an attic at 2311 W 3rd at 4:44 PM, Wednesday, 27 January, 2016. Fire crews arrived on the scene at 4:48 PM to find a two story wood framed structure with heavy smoke and flames showing. There was on one in the residence. Crews were able to extinguish the fire in the living room and attic.

The fire was declared under control at 5:13 PM and crews remained on scene until 6:39 PM. The house was occupied by Karen Birch. 

No injuries were reported to fire personnel. Six Joplin Fire units and 18 Joplin Fire personnel responded, as well as JPD and METS.

The cause of the fire was is under investigation by the JFD.
