Hunt for Alexius: Police statement on Jan. 8 SWAT team activity

In the early morning hours of January 8, 2016, the Joplin Police Department received credible information from two independent witnesses that Douglas E. Alexius, 40, of Joplin was at 210 S. Mineral Avenue.

Patrol officers and Investigators placed a perimeter on the residence and began surveillance. Neighbors were contacted and provided with the opportunity to leave their homes at their discretion.

Because of nature of Alexius’ criminal activities, the fact that he is considered armed and dangerous the Joplin SWAT-Team was activated.

Ultimately it as determined that Alexius was not in the residence.

Alexius is considered armed and dangerous and he has the following warrants.

1. FULL U.S. EXTRADITION, UNLAWFUL FLIGHT TO AVOID PROSECUTION- FBI

2. FULL U.S. EXTRADITION, FAILURE TO APPEAR POSSESSION CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, BOND: $ 10,000 CASH OR SURETY- JASPER COUNTY

3. STATEWIDE EXTRADITION, FAILURE TO APPEAR, ASSAULT LAW ENFORCEMENT, $1500. CASH OR SURETY, NEWTON COUNTY

4. FULL U.S. EXTRADITION, RESISTING OFFICER-THREE Counts, NEWTON COUNTY

5. FULL U.S. EXTRADITION, RECEIVE STOLEN PROPERTY, NEWTON COUNTY, NO BOND

6. FULL U.S. EXTRADITION BURGLARY OF A RESIDENCE - FORCED ENTRY, NEWTON COUNTY, NO BOND
