Joplin officers use taser to capture fleeing felon, meth confiscated

(From the Joplin Police Department)

Incident Spotlight

Last night at 9:05 pm one of our officers drove by an apartment building near 3rd and Connor. He was looking for a male who lives there that has a felony parole violation warrant.

The officer walked up to the residence and saw two females and the wanted male walk out the front door to a vehicle. The officer approached the wanted male, who had now stopped to talk to another male in the front yard. The officer announced who he was and told the wanted male to stay where he was. He instead turned and ran back into the apartment and slammed the door.

While other officers responded, lots of noise was heard coming from the apartment. It was quickly discovered the male busted through the wall into an adjoining apartment, and fled out their back door. The male was seen running away from the apartments and refused officers yelling at him to stop while chasing him.

A pursuing officer deployed his taser, taking the male into custody without injury to anyone involved. A small baggie of meth was found on the male at the jail as well. He was arrested for his felony warrant, felony resisting arrest and felony drug possession.
