The MSSU Choral Society will perform its annual Spring Concert on Sunday, April 29, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 2423 W. 26th St., Joplin.
Conducted by its founder, Dr. Al Carnine, MSSU Professor Emeritus, and accompanied by pianist Clint Newby, the community-based MSSU Choral Society’s Spring Broadway and Pops concert will appeal to people of all ages.
The concert opens with George Handel’s Let Joyful Anthems Rise, an acclamation of praise for the talent provided.
The Musical World of Walt Disney is a feature-length compilation arranged by Mac Huff celebrating the 100 years of magic provided by this Missouri native. Well over a dozen of Disney’s favorite tunes will explore the depth of his work. Narrated by Leecia Bloss, solos are provided by Robert Marzullo, Kathi Cassady, and Tiffany Fox.
The event closes with another feature-length compilation Made in the USA also arranged by Mac Huff. Drawing from patriotic, ballads, some old-time rock and roll, country, and even more Broadway tunes, the work ends with favorites God Bless the USAand America the Beautiful. Narrated by Wally Bloss, soloists are Meg Berrian, Cathy Welsh, and Cara Johnson.
Admission is free, and donations are gratefully accepted.
