On 03/06/2019, the Lamar Police Department took a report of a skimmer device on one of the gas pumps at the Phillips 66 gas station next to John Deere.
If you purchased fuel from this location recently, please keep an eye on your bank account and report any fraudulent activity.
On the same day, another skimmer device was also found at Murphy Oil in Lamar.

According to Lamar Police Chief Rusty Rives, “It is hard to detect a skimmer device, as they are located inside the machine and can not be detected from the outside.”
Rives did point out that, “One thing to look for, most places, is the placing of a piece of security tape over the key hole that allows access behind the panel. If that tape is damaged, individuals should immediately bring it to the attention of the attendant.”
