(From the Jasper County Sheriff's Office)On 9-12-2024 at approximately 6:30 AM, Jasper County detention staff was notified of an inmate that was not conscious and not breathing in his cell.
Medical personnel were notified and lifesaving efforts were started but were not successful. Next of kin has been notified.
The inmate was identified as Jason L. Romain, 52, of Joplin.
At this time the death appears to be from natural causes, no foul play is suspected, an autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
