Pierce City man dead after fiery collision on 60 in Granby

One man was killed and another man injured in a two-vehicle collision 7:01 p.m. Monday on U. S. 60 at the west Granby city limits.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a Chrysler 300 driven by Nathanial N. McCamish, 19, Pierce City, was passing a tractor-trailer on a hillcrest when a 2002 Peterbilt semi tractor and trailer driven by Brian L. Sherman, 55, Nevada, came over the hillcrest.







McCamish attempted to avoid the Sherman vehicle by swerving left, but the vehicles collided head on. Both vehicles became fully engulfed in flames with the Sherman vehicle blocking the roadway.

Newton County Coroner Dale Owen pronounced a passenger in the McCamish vehicle, Shawn McCamish was pronounced dead at the scene.

Nathanial McCamish was treated for serious injuries at Mercy Springfield.
