A Joplin woman was killed in a one-vehicle accident 3:02 a.m. today on eastbound I-44 at mile marker 6.2 in Joplin.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2009 Nissan Sentra driven by Jessica C. Chapman, 22, Joplin, traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck a guardrail and overturned.
Newton County Coroner Dale Owen pronounced Chapman dead at the scene.
The fatality was the 73rd this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
