A Joplin man was killed and a Webb City man injured in a one-vehicle accident 1:01 p.m. today on Route H, nine miles west of Jasper.
According to the Highway Patrol, a 2021 Freightliner trash truck driven by Kim L. Melvin, 56, Joplin, traveled partially off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected, traveled off the left side of the roadway and overturned.
Jasper County Coroner James Harrison pronounced Melvin dead at the scene.
A passenger, Darrall W. Taylor, 65, Webb City, was treated for serious injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.
The fatality was the 74th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
