Enrollment at Missouri Southern State University has increased this fall as the university also saw the third consecutive semester of growth in new students coming to MSSU.

Based on the official university census, overall enrollment increased 1.24% with graduate student enrollment growing 66%.

Dr. Shellie Hewitt, MSSU’s Associate Vice President of Admissions and Enrollment, reported an increased head count in overall enrollment this semester including growth in new freshman and new graduate students.

In addition, MSSU’s international student enrollment has grown 26 percent since last fall with most of those students being new first-time freshman. “Our focus on providing quality education, with immersive learning opportunities, along with offering scholarships to help cover cost, has proven to be successful,’ Hewitt said, “Missouri Southern is becoming a choice institution for students in the four-state region and beyond.”

Dr. Lisa Toms, Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs comments on the growth of graduate programs at Missouri Southern, “Graduate student enrollment reflects the addition of programs that are innovative and designed to meet the needs of students and the demand from employers. The flexibility in delivery modes and focus on advanced curriculum such as healthcare administration and data analytics has fueled the growth in this area. We are excited for the future of graduate education

“It’s exciting to see so many students choosing Missouri Southern. We continue to focus on providing a great student experience and offering academic programs and credentials that will prepare our graduates for careers and for life,” said Dr. Dean Van Galen, University President.
