Car sought in investigation into dead body found along I-44 recovered, probe continues

Shortly after 5:00 PM, the red Chevy Cobalt was located and recovered in Independence, MO. 

If anyone has information about this vehicle being around the Quik Trip at I-44 and I-249 during the daytime on 09-17-24 please call JASCO at 417-359-9100 and ask for Det. Sgt. Cady.








Original news release

On 9-16-2024, at approximately 5:25 PM, Jasper County Deputies were notified of a possible deceased male in the ditch on I-44 near the 14.8 mile marker.

Jasper County detectives are currently working this death investigation in conjunction with the Missouri Highway Patrol.

The male was identified as Jesse Gilmore, 63, from Oklahoma. Next of kin has been notified and an autopsy is scheduled for Friday, September 20th.






 

Investigators are currently looking for a vehicle related to this incident. A red 2010 Chevy Cobalt bearing Oklahoma license plate PIH667. There is significant damage to the passenger side rear door.

If anyone has seen this vehicle in the past 24 hours or has knowledge of where it is currently located, please call JASCO at 417-359- 9100 and ask for Det. Cady. This is an active investigation and more information may be released at a later time.
