Joplin man arrested after stabbing in Salvation Army parking lot

On Tuesday, September 10th, 2024, at 10:58 pm the Joplin Police Department responded to the Salvation Army parking lot at 320 E. 8th Street for a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian crash. 

Upon arrival officers determined there was no vehicle crash but a stabbing had taken place. Through further investigation it was found that the suspect, Deandre T. Fazio age 18 of Joplin, was involved in a disturbance with his girlfriend at this location. Family members were contacted to retrieve a child there at the scene. 








Shortly after arriving, the victim, Chad Minor, was stabbed in the abdomen with a knife by Fazio. Minor fled the scene on foot and flagged down a nearby motorist to get a ride to the hospital for treatment. The victim is in stable condition at this time. 

Following the stabbing, Fazio jumped on the hood and windshield of his girlfriend’s vehicle causing extensive damage. 








Fazio was detained on scene and arrested on charges of Assault in the 1st Degree, Armed Criminal Action, Property Damage in the 1st Degree, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child in the 1st Degree. These charges are being forwarded to the Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for review. Fazio remains in custody at the Joplin City Jail. 

Detectives with the Joplin Police Department are currently investigating this incident, and further details may be released if more information becomes available.
