(From the 29th Judicial Circuit)St. Louis, Missouri – 18 September 2024 – The Missouri Bar Foundation honored Circuit Judge Gayle L. Crane of the 29th Judicial Circuit with the Spurgeon Smithson Award, recognizing her exceptional service toward the increase and diffusion of justice in society and for dedication to the purposes of the legal profession.
Judge Crane, who has served with distinction since her election in 2006, has been a steadfast advocate for fairness and integrity in the judiciary.
The Spurgeon Smithson Award was established in 1976 through the bequest of the late Spurgeon Smithson, a highly respected Kansas City attorney, with the goal of acknowledging Missouri judges, law teachers, and lawyers who have demonstrated exemplary service in the promotion of justice. The Missouri Bar Foundation presents the award annually, with nominations being solicited from the Board of Trustees and final selections made during the Foundation Trustees meeting in June.
Judge Crane was selected for her efforts and leadership in advancing justice in Missouri's legal community.
