Four businesses fail Jasper County alcohol compliance check

(From the Jasper County Sheriff's Office)

The Jasper County Sheriff's Office conducted alcohol sales compliance checks on September 7, 2024, checking 16 businesses on the east side of Jasper County.

The initiative is aimed to ensure that local establishments follow all regulations regarding the sale of alcohol, particularly to minors.

During the compliance checks, four out of the 16 businesses failed by selling alcohol to an underage individual who was under the supervision of law enforcement.

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office emphasizes the importance of these checks in promoting community safety and responsible alcohol sales.

Sheriff Randee Kaiser stated, "We take underage drinking very seriously in Jasper County. Our goal with these compliance checks is not only to enforce the law but also to educate business owners about their responsibilities. We encourage all local establishments to review their policies and training to prevent underage sales."

The following businesses were found in violation of the law:

1. Mazoo Liquor 1624 High St. Sarcoxie, Missouri

2. The Corner 824 E. Fairview Ave. Carthage, Missouri

3. The Wagon Liquor 157 E. Central Ave. Carthage, Missouri

4. Mazoo Liquor 119 Baker Blvd. Carthage, Missouri

Each violator was issued a summons in accordance with state laws. The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office is committed to ensuring that businesses are compliant and will continue to conduct future checks to uphold community standards.

The Jasper County Sheriff's Office encourages parents and guardians to discuss the dangers of underage drinking with their children and to reinforce the legal consequences of underage alcohol consumption.
