Springfield pedestrian struck, injured in SE Kansas

At 11:16 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024, Cherokee County emergency personnel were dispatched to an injury crash on K66 Highway near Southeast 69th in Riverton.

The preliminary crash investigation conducted by the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, indicates an eastbound 2007 Saturn passenger vehicle, driven by 65-year-old Ralph Brummett, of Alba Missouri, struck 25-year-old Steven Wahlers, of Springfield Missouri, who was walking in the lane of travel.

Wahlers, who was cited by a Missouri law enforcement agency on September 2nd, 2024, for being a pedestrian in the roadway, was transported by Cherokee County Emergency Medical Services to a Joplin area hospital. He was later transferred to a Springfield Hospital with serious injuries.
