A Diamond teen was killed in a one-vehicle accident 7:55 a.m. today on Pelican Road, two miles east of Diamond
According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2000 Buick Regal driven by Haylee A. Heiblage-Barnes, 16, Diamond, ran off the right side of the roadway, struck a ditch, and overturned ejecting the passenger, Jacee R. Miksell, 15, Diamond, who was not wearing a seat belt.
Miksell was pronounced dead at the scene by Coroner Jerry Deens at 8 a.m.
Barnes was treated for minor injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.
The fatality was the second one this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
