A Stark City teen was charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated, first offense, following a one-vehicle accident 6:05 a.m. Sunday on Highway 86, two miles west of Newtonia.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a 1978 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Dewight S. Nunnally, 18, Stark City, traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck a ditch, causing the vehicle to become airborne, struck the ditch again, continued on, struck a road sign and came to rest in the ditch.
Nunnally was treated for serious injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.
In addition to DWI, Nunnally was charged with careless and imprudent driving and for not wearing a seat belt.
