On Friday, February 19th 2016 at 4:30 pm, the Joplin Police Department responded to MO 249 Highway and Interstate 44 for a traffic crash.
A single vehicle was north on MO 249 and left the roadway, rolling down the nearby embankment. One passenger, Alexus Arguello (21) of Hot Springs Arkansas was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, Sophia Waller (22) of Fayetteville Arkansas and passenger Lauren Rowell of Woodlands Texas were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The investigation continues and is being conducted by the Joplin Police Department Crash Team. The Joplin Fire Department, METS Ambulance and MoDOT responded to the scene to assist.
No other details are being released at this time.
