According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis driven by Thomas J. "T. J." Bowman, 30, Carthage, ran off the roadway, struck an embankment, and overturned.
Bowman was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:04 p.m. by Newton County Deputy Coroner Jerry Deems.
The fatality was the 17th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
