Bicyclist struck by two vehicles near Carthage

A bicyclist was struck by two vehicles 7:05 p.m. today on Fairview, half a mile west of Carthage.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a bicyclist, Kal M. Johnson, 43, Carthage, was westbound on Fairview, without any lighting equipment, when it was struck by a 2009 Buick Enclave driven by Donna C. Ogle, 72, Carthage. Johnson was thrown into the path of an eastbound 2002 Toyota Camry driven by Michael T. Morgan, 20, Carthage, and was struck by the left front and side of the vehicle.

Johnson was treated for serious injuries at Mercy Hospital, Joplin.
