Jeff Bucholtz will present his lecture “Together We Can: Sexual Violence, Gender, and Responsibility” on Wednesday, Feb. 24 at Missouri Southern State University.
Heather Arnold, Director of Wellness, says, “Jeff Bucholtz is definitely an ‘edutainment’ speaker. He has a comedic and engaging way of getting the word out on a very serious message about sexual violence and cultural ideologies.”
“Sexual violence is becoming more prominent in our society, including, in the language we use,” Arnold adds.
A lecture open only to MSSU students and employees will take place at 11 a.m. on Feb. 24 in Phelps Theatre in Billingsly Student Center.
A lecture open to the campus and community will be held at 6:30 p.m. that evening in Corley Auditorium in Webster Hall. There is no cost to attend and the public is invited.
The lectures will offer information on how to prevent sexual violence through an examination of the cultural ideologies, attitudes and behaviors that surround it.
Bucholtz received his master’s degree in Women’s Studies from San Diego State University. He is co-president of the San Diego Domestic Violence Council.
He is director of We End Violence, a resource to help prevent and respond to violence, violation and discrimination. For information about that group’s mission and activities, visit the group’s website at http://weendviolence.com/
