Argument with gunshot fired leads to Joplin Police arrest of man with cocaine, weapons

(From the Joplin Police Department)

Incident Spotlight

On Friday morning at 11:05 a.m. we received a call about two males arguing with each other and a gunshot being fired by one of them around 16th and Murphy Avenue.

Officers arrived and detained a male who was involved.

Officers determined he was the one who had fired a shot from a handgun into the ground. He was found to have 14 grams of cocaine in his pocket as well. Officers located a container of 173 grams of marijuana that the male had hidden.

While clearing the residence where the shooting occurred to make sure nobody was injured, officers saw marijuana and drug paraphernalia in plain view.

A detective with our department, who is assigned to the Ozark Drug Enforcement Team, then obtained a search warrant for the residence. More marijuana, drug paraphernalia, pills and a shotgun were located and seized. The male was arrested for felony drug and weapons charges.
