Carl Junction weather notification service up and running

(From the Carl Junction Police Department)

Just in time for the bad weather forecast this evening, we have the notification system up and running!

We have formatted the system to automatically send out weather alerts for Severe Thunderstorm Warnings, Tornado warnings, and Winter Weather Warnings as soon as they are put in place from the National Weather Service for our area.

This system will be used for much more than weather alerts as we will be able to put advisories out in case of car accidents, missing persons, gas leak, etc. that occur within Carl Junction. But with the weather coming in this evening we would like everyone to have access to important notifications.

To sign up for notifications you can do a couple different things:

1. Go through the website. www.nixle.com and click "Sign Up". From there you can customize where you would like notifications from.

2. Text 64834 to 888777 to automatically be signed up for text alerts from CJPD.

Side note: In the event of a severe weather warning the Carl Junction Police Department, along with the Carl Junction High School have shelters that are open to the public.

We sincerely hope as many people as possible sign up to receive these alerts. We believe they will be highly beneficial for the residents and visitors of our city.

Be Safe!
CJPD
