Autopsy scheduled for body discovered by MODOT workers at I-44/49 interchange

Update #1: The deceased is believed to be an adult male. No positive identification has been made and an autopsy has been scheduled for Thursday at 9am at Frontier Forensics in Kansas City.

Earlier News Release

This morning, on July 10, 2018 at 09:39am, the Joplin Police Department was notified by a MODOT Mowing Crew that they had discovered a body at the interchange of I-44/49.

Officers responded and located the body on a hillside on the north side of the the I-44 Westbound transition ramp to Southbound Interstate 49.

Joplin Police Detectives were called to the scene and are conducting a death investigation. The Missouri State Highway Patrol was also dispatched to the call due to the location, and are assisting our officers with information in the investigation.
