(From the City of Joplin)
Due to stormwater work in the area, 20th Street from Range Line to Highview Avenue will be closed for night work for stormwater work in the area.
Starting Wednesday, July 18, D & E Plumbing will begin work to replace a large stormwater pipe that crosses under 20th Street. Crews will work from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. daily except for Friday and Saturday nights. This work will close all lanes of 20th Street from Range Line Road to Highview Avenue.
20th Street will be OPEN during daytime hours of 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. of this construction project. Completion of this project is set for July 31, weather permitting.
Following this phase, a second phase of work will begin that will cause occasional lane closures for westbound traffic along 20th Street. Closures will be intermittent and located from Highview to Murphy Boulevard with one westbound lane remaining open at all times. This work is estimated to be completed by September, weather permitting.
Drivers are urged to use alternate routes and proceed with caution at intersections. The City appreciates your patience during these closures. For questions, please contact Jason Eckhart, Anderson Engineering at 417-782-7399.
This project is one of several in the area focused on the recovery work funded by HUD’s Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery program and has a deadline of late 2019.
