Crowder College news update

Roughrider Student Activities
·         Constitution Day – September 17, at 12:30-1:45pm in Wright Conference Center located inside the Arnold Farber building on the Neosho campus. Guest speaker will be Mark Smith (local attorney/adjunct) discussing "Hot Topics in Constitutional Law". This event is sponsored by the Social Sciences division.
·         PTK Induction at 2pm on September 27. Phi Theta Kappa is an honor society for full-time community college students who achieve a 3.5 gpa while taking at least 12 or more credit hours. Crowder Chapter Sponsors – Suzanne Puckett & Peter Broglio will be sending invitations to potential members.
Roughrider Athletics
·         Roughrider Soccer is now 1-3 on the season losing a tough one to NW Kansas Technical College, 1-2, this past weekend. They will entertain border rivals NEO today, Tuesday, Sept 8, at 4pm and Neosho County on Saturday, Sept. 12, at 2pm. ·         Roughrider Fieldhouse is one step closer to groundbreaking with $450,000 in donations presented last Friday. The total project, $1.4M, will begin once 100% of the funds have been donated. Campus Community Events
·         Art Exhibit – work by Dr. John Galey, August 17-September 10, reception to be held August 29, 4-6pm. Museum hours are 9am-4pm, M-F, closed weekends and holidays. For upcoming shows and exhibits please visit our website: http://www.crowder.edu/about-crowder/longwell-museum/
·         The Longwell Museum will be closed September 11 – October 8, for remodeling. Watch for events and reopening in October.
·         Crowder College Webb City will host a First Responder Memorial Ceremony, September 11, at 11am, 600 S. Ellis St., Webb City. Crowder faculty and staff invite the community to gather at the First Responders Monument surrounding the flagpole outside Dawson-Spencer Hall to express our gratitude and pay tribute to those who serve our community and nation. Featured speaker will be Brigadier General Gregory D. Mason. After the ceremony, Webb City and Carl Junction Rotary Clubs will be providing hamburgers and hotdogs to all first responders. ·         Cody Jenkins 5th Annual Memorial, Sunday, September 13, 2pm, at Roughrider Arena. Fundraiser for Agriculture student scholarships. This event is free and open to the public. Open to roping teams for $25 a man. Contact Jorge Zapata for information: jorgezapata@Crowder.edu or 417-455-5496.
