Police Service K9 Gunner retires

The Joplin Police Department is proud to announce the retirement of Police Service K9 Gunner.

 Gunner, a Belgian Malinois, began his career with the Police Department in January of 2008 and at the time of his retirement was assigned to work with Corporal Nick Jimenez. Gunner was trained in the areas of tracking, handler protection, building searches, and narcotics detections.

Along with other accomplishments Gunner is credited for recovering 311.7 grams of Cocaine, 506,260.1 grams of Marijuana, and 1131.65 grams of Methamphetamine.

Gunner, will remain with the Jimenez family to enjoy the retired life. Below is some information in regard to Gunner’s service to the community.
