Crowder College will have a Judy Haas Smith book signing event, October 15, 5-7pm, in the Longwell Museum located in the Elsie Plaster Community Center on the Neosho campus.
Larger Than Life The Legacy of Daniel Longwell and Mary Fraser Longwell is the title of the biography written by Smith. According to her book jacket, Smith plugs a gap in the history of 20th century media with a much-needed biography of Dan Longwell, a founding editor and legendary “idea Man”’ in the formative years of the great LIFE magazine, and his wife Mary Fraser, Chief of Research for all Time, Inc. magazines.
An interview between Smith and Dr. Jennifer Methvin, President of Crowder College, will take place followed by book signings. Books will be available for purchase that evening for $20, with $10 being donated back to the museum. A drawing for free books will also be provided for Crowder students in attendance.
Smith has generously donated to aid the college in remodeling the Longwell Museum. Some of the improvements include movable walls for future displays and glass cabinets that house works contained in the museum.
Following the book signing guests are invited to stay for the Crowder College Theatre production of The Hound of the Baskervilles opening night. The show begins at 7:30pm. Tickets available at the door.
