Long range transportation plan to be discussed at October 29 meeting

(From the City of Joplin)

There will be a public meeting of the Joplin Area Transportation Study Organization (JATSO) Policy Board on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 1:30 P.M. at the Joplin City Hall 5th Floor Study, 602 South Main Street, Joplin, Missouri. Items that will be discussed include the 2035 Long-Range Transportation Plan, Transportation Improvement Program, and Unified Planning Work Program. JATSO will be receiving public comments on the 2035 LRTP and the 2016 UPWP until October 29.

The TIP contains transportation and transit projects in the Joplin Metropolitan Area that are partially funded by Federal transportation programs during a four year period (2016-2019). The Long Range Transportation Plan is a planning document that spans twenty years and drives transportation improvement and projects in the Metropolitan Planning Area. The UPWP is an instrument for coordinating transportation and comprehensive planning in the metropolitan region to broaden MPO awareness of activities and plans that impact surface transportation.

The draft of the 2016 Unified Planning Work Program and 2035 LRTP may be viewed at http://www.joplinmo.org/index.aspx?NID=741.
