Joplin man airlifted to Springfield Mercy after two-vehicle accident

A Joplin man was injured in a two-vehicle accident 6:45 a.m. today on MO 96 at CR 270 two miles north of Carl Junction.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2001 Chevrolet pickup driven by Luis W. Plaza-Rodriguez, 39, Joplin, failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of MO 96 and CR 270 and pulled into the path of a 1996 Ford L9000 dump truck driven by Lewis S. Boan, 54, Neosho.

Plaza-Rodriguez was airlifted to Mercy Hospital Springfield, where he was treated for serious injuries.
