EN Board hears bond issue update, approves bus barn bid

(From the East Newton R-6 School District)

As part of the continued efforts in keeping the patrons informed, the East Newton R-VI Schools administration will provide monthly information concerning Board meetings.

A recap of the October, 2015 regular meetings is as follows:

Recognitions: Patriot Pride Award – Neosho Graphics (Bruce and Karla Boatright) and Tanner Youngblood

Public Comments: Joe Guinn and Doug Jones

The Board approved the Consent Agenda, including the previous month Board minute and monthly bills, Substitute teacher list, and Transportation Routes

Program Evaluations: Drug Free Program, Quest Program, and Building Improvement Plans

Financial Report

Enrollment & Attendance for the end of September. Enrollment was 1,359 K-12. Triway campus with 378, Granby campus with 506, and the High School with 475. Overall attendance percentage was 95.5

Under Old Business, the Board heard a presentation from Brad Erwin, Paragon architecture firm regarding possible projects related to April Bond Issue. The Board approved CTS group as the districts choice for qualified provider of Energy Performance contracting.

In respect to New Business, the Board approved the Triway Bus Barn rebuild bid to replace the barn as a result of the previous fire, BRANCO was selected. The Board approved a Scotland/England trip for juniors and seniors to take this summer. The Board was given MSBA policy updates to review. Last on the agenda was a parent speaking on athletic participation.

The next regular meeting is scheduled for Thursday November 19 at 7:00 p.m. at Central Office.
