(From Southern News Service)

Missouri Southern State University as well as two of its degree programs have been recognized in Affordable Colleges Online’s 2015-16 rankings.

Each year, the organization analyzes data from hundreds of colleges across the nation in order to find the most affordable online learning programs.

In rankings for Best Online Colleges in Missouri, Missouri Southern came in at No. 1. Nationally, the university was ranked No. 33 in the Top 50 Most Affordable Online Colleges.

Missouri Southern’s bachelor’s program in human resource management was ranked No. 8 in the Best Online Human Resource Degrees nationally. The university’s accounting program was also ranked No. 11 in the Nation’s Best Online Accounting Degrees.

“MSSU’s online programs operate under the ‘anytime, anywhere’ philosophy, making a degree accessible to busy professionals with responsibilities outside of school and work,” according to Affordable Colleges Online’s website.

To determine rankings, data analysts for Affordable Colleges Online developed a proprietary scoring system to rank colleges based on various cost-to-quality metrics. It compares qualitative components of colleges with similar costs against the tuition of colleges with similar quality metrics.

In order to qualify, schools must:

· Must offer a bachelor’s degree or higher.

· Must be a public or private not-for-profit institution.

· Must offer at least one fully-online bachelor’s degree program.

· Must have at least one fully-online program in that state.
