Table tennis, also referred to as “ping pong”, is a fun game for many who enjoy this sport. It’s a game that attracts people of any age and all skill levels, which is a good enticement for players to register for an upcoming tournament in Joplin.
On Saturday, April 9, the Joplin Table Tennis Club is hosting the Spring Classic 2016 Ping Pong Tournament at Memorial Hall, and players at all levels should sign up for this event.
According to Janus Lazarus, President of the Joplin Club, past tournaments have seen a number of highly-skilled players as well as those starting the sport.
“This is a great tournament for this area,” said Lazarus. “With the variety of skill levels, it is exciting to watch or to participate in the tournament. Beginners enjoy learning from advanced players, and the skilled players enjoy the challenge of facing their opponents at or near their same level.”
Lazarus said their club encourages the general public to attend and watch this one of a kind tournament. Attending the tournament is free, and can provide family entertainment in a friendly but competitive environment.
The Joplin Table Tennis Club meets from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. every week on Mondays and Fridays at Memorial Hall. The hours are flexible for those participants with busy schedules, and allows members to come and go according to their schedule. Participants are reminded to use the east door of Memorial Hall.
