(From MODOT)
Sidewalk Improvements on Route 66 in Joplin/Duquesne
Scheduled to Begin Week of April 16
Jasper County – Drivers should expect some delays when contractor crews begin working on sidewalk improvements along Missouri Route 66 in Joplin and Duquesne, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
Improvements include making sidewalks and pedestrian areas conform to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. Federal law requires MoDOT to make sidewalks compliant with ADA requirements.
Crews will be working along Route 66 (7th Street) between Rangeline Road and Duquesne Road. The contractor will work between the hours of 7 p.m. and 10 a.m., Monday through Thursday, beginning with the south side of the highway working west to east. Crews will then turn around and work on the north side of the highway, east to west.
There will be occasional lane closings with flaggers guiding drivers through the work zone. Signs and message boards will alert drivers to the approaching work zone.
Weather and/or unforeseen delays will alter the work schedule.
