Joplin Police recover stolen car, arrest woman on tampering, drug paraphernalia charges

(From the Joplin Police Department)

Incident Spotlight

On Saturday July 8 our officers took a stolen vehicle report on the east side of town at 4:56 p.m. Less than an hour and a half later, at 6:18 p.m., the shift sergeant was driving at 20th and Bird and observed the stolen vehicle pull into Hall's Food Mart, 2002 South Bird.

He contacted the female driver who was now out of the vehicle, airing up a tire. She gave a false name and denied being in the vehicle even though she was witnessed by the officer and confirmed by surveillance video to be the driver.

She was arrested for tampering with a stolen vehicle, giving a false name and had two needles and a baggie so she was also charged with drug paraphernalia. The vehicle was returned to the owner.
